Maureen Schofield
Director

Maureen Schofield is a Chartered Secretary, member of STEP and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. She has over 40 years’ experience of the offshore industry on the Isle of Man. She started her training with Coopers & Lybrand before participating in a management buyout of a small private fiduciary practice. This practice was sold in 2000, leaving Maureen free to pursue personal interests. In 2002 Maureen joined RSM Tenon Group PLC where, together with her co-director Mark Schofield, she established local fiduciary service provider Tenon (IOM) Ltd. Maureen and Mark led a management buyout of Tenon (IOM) Ltd in 2012 to form the Optimus Group.

Mark Schofield
Director

Mark Schofield is a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 40 years’ experience in the offshore financial centres of Jersey and the Isle of Man. Mark joined KPMG in Jersey in 1986 and subsequently moved to the Isle of Man in 1991 where he joined Coopers & Lybrand, now PWC, later moving into their trust company, Abacus Limited. In 2002 Mark joined RSM Tenon Group PLC where, together with his co-director Maureen Schofield, he established local fiduciary service provider Tenon (IOM) Ltd. Maureen and Mark led a management buyout of Tenon (IOM) Ltd in 2012 to form the Optimus Group.

In 2023 Mark and Maureen sold the client book of the Isle of Man fiduciary business and work in a reduced capacity on one or two bespoke projects.

Arnold Galea
Director

Arnold Galea is a highly experienced and accomplished professional in the financial services sector with over twenty years of expertise. He is an expert in international pensions, insurance, wealth management, and trusts. Arnold has been instrumental in the growth and success of numerous start-up ventures, spearheaded operational restructuring initiatives, and has independently navigated complex negotiations with relevant stakeholders.

Arnold’s leadership skills and strategic acumen were showcased when he oversaw the takeover of a substantial book of business valued at approximately £80 million. Arnold has held managerial and directorial positions across five distinct financial services enterprises and has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive organizational excellence and foster a culture of innovation. Arnold’s deep commitment to mentorship and professional development has inspired individuals to reach their full potential and strive for greatness. His leadership style is characterized by empathy, integrity, and an unyielding pursuit of excellence.

Arnold is an avid football enthusiast and passionately coaches youth teams in his spare time. He is also an avid reader with a keen interest in international affairs and global developments, fueling his passion for continuous learning and growth.

Dr. Jens C. Buedinger
Non-Executive Director

With a distinguished background in financial services law and corporate governance, Dr. Buedinger provides valuable insights and guidance to support the organization’s governance and compliance efforts. Dr. Buedinger’s career includes significant roles in the legal sector, specializing in financial services law as well as pension schemes and retirement service administration. His experience encompasses advising on regulatory compliance and legal frameworks relevant to fiduciary services.

Before joining Optimus Fiduciaries, Dr. Buedinger held key positions at one of Malta’s renowned legal firms, focusing on corporate mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory matters in the financial services industry.

Roberto Buttigieg
MLRO & Compliance Officer

Roberto Buttigieg is a professional dedicated to ensuring financial integrity and security. Graduating with Honours in Statistics and Banking from the University of Malta in 2019, Roberto embarked on a journey marked by excellence and commitment to the financial services realm.

Roberto’s expertise spans crucial realms of finance, particularly in compliance matters and anti-money laundering strategies. His proficiency is underscored by the attainment of the esteemed Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist Certificate from ACAMS. Currently serving as Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer at Optimus, Roberto plays a pivotal role in safeguarding against financial misconduct and ensuring regulatory adherence.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Roberto is an active individual with a fervent passion for freestyle wrestling. As a National Athlete, he embodies the virtues of discipline, determination, and resilience, traits that seamlessly translate into his professional pursuits.

Luke D’Agostino
Junior Finance Manager

Luke D’Agostino joined Optimus in 2019 as a Junior Investments Administrator, propelled by a passion for finance and continuous learning. Today, he proudly serves as the Junior Finance Manager, showcasing over seven years of financial services experience.

Certified as a Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®), Luke’s dedication to excellence in financial analysis is evident. He is currently pursuing the ACCA qualification, further enriching his skill set and deepening his understanding of global accounting standards.

Despite his youth, Luke exhibits exceptional leadership, steering the finance and accounts team with precision and fostering a culture of growth. Beyond his professional pursuits, Luke is an avid sports enthusiast with a keen interest in the stock and financial markets, driving his quest for knowledge and innovation. 

Warren Camilleri
Pensions Team Leader

Warren Camilleri joined Optimus group on 2nd January 2019 as a Junior Pensions Administrator and is currently our Pensions Administration Team Leader. He has a robust background in business administration and with over seven years of hands-on experience, Warren has cultivated a deep understanding of the intricacies of financial operations and leadership. Holding an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration, he combines academic knowledge with practical expertise to drive efficiency and innovation within his team.

Warren’s journey in the financial world is marked by his commitment to fostering strong, collaborative team environments and implementing strategic initiatives that enhance operational performance. His ability to navigate complex challenges and streamline processes has not only elevated the team he has led but also contributed significantly to his organization.

 Warren’s professional objectives are clear and ambitious. He aims to continue evolving within the financial sector, aspiring to take on roles with increasing responsibility and impact. In his free time, Warren likes to travel and read.
